SKIN TONE GUIDE

✨ Deep neutral skin tone

Deep brown that turns orange in warm shades and ashy in cool ones

What deep neutral skin looks like

Deep neutral skin is rich brown without a strong golden or blue cast. Warm deep shades pull orange; cool deep shades pull grey or ashy. The match is a neutral deep that you cannot see on the jaw. You can wear both gold and silver, and both warm spice and cool jewel tones, as long as they are not the most extreme version of either.

  • ✓Deep skin that looks neither obviously golden nor obviously blue
  • ✓Both metals work
  • ✓Warm foundations pull orange and cool ones pull ashy, at the same depth
  • ✓You tan very little because you are already in the deep range

Foundation for deep neutral skin

Neutral deep, natural espresso, or a balanced dark brown — not golden and not blue. Many lines do not make a true neutral this deep; their “neutral” is warm. If both options miss, mix a warm and a cool deep from the same line in equal parts and test that. Depth first, then hue.

Warm highlight

Lips: Rose-brown, soft wine, and cocoa. You can wear a warm red or a blue-red; avoid the orange-brown and the grey-brown ends.

Blush: Deep rose or a balanced berry.

Eyes: Espresso, soft plum, and a neutral bronze or a soft gold — one metallic, not every gold in the palette.

Skip: Picking a shade because it is the darkest in the line. The darkest shade is often cool and ashy, or warm and orange. Neutral is a hue match at a deep value, not “the last bottle.”

Color seasons that often match

Depth and undertone narrow the season. Contrast decides the rest — these are the usual matches, not a diagnosis.

Frequently asked questions

What foundation matches deep neutral skin?

A deep shade that is neither golden nor blue-based. It should disappear on the jaw in daylight. Orange means too warm; grey or chalky means too cool or too light. Mixing equal parts warm and cool deep from one line is a practical fix when a true neutral does not exist.

Can deep neutral skin wear both gold and berry makeup?

Yes, more than deep warm or deep cool can. Keep each look in one direction — a warm bronze eye with a cocoa lip, or a plum eye with a wine lip — instead of mixing the extremes in one face.
