SKIN TONE GUIDE

⚖️ Light neutral skin tone

Light beige that matches neither a pink nor a yellow mixer

What light neutral skin looks like

Light neutral skin is a true light beige. Warm shades pull yellow; cool shades pull pink; the neutral light shade disappears, which is what you want. This is a common result when jewelry and vein tests contradict each other and your skin is clearly lighter than medium.

  • ✓Your jaw is light beige, not peach and not pink
  • ✓Both metals look fine in small jewelry
  • ✓You tan slowly and burn only with real exposure
  • ✓Foundation either looks too yellow or too pink, rarely too deep or too light, once you are in the light band

Foundation for light neutral skin

Neutral light, buff, or natural beige in the light range. The word “neutral” on the bottle matters more here than at other depths, because the warm and cool light shades are far enough apart to see. Swatch two neighbors and pick the one you cannot see on the jaw.

Lips: Rose-beige and soft pink-nude. You can borrow a slightly warm or slightly cool lip, not both at full saturation.

Blush: Soft rose or a muted peach-pink — one step from neutral, not a bright coral.

Eyes: Taupe, soft brown, and champagne in a thin layer.

Skip: Very saturated orange and very icy blue-pink. Light neutral coloring looks overpowered by either extreme, even when a warmer or cooler friend wears it well.

Color seasons that often match

Depth and undertone narrow the season. Contrast decides the rest — these are the usual matches, not a diagnosis.

If pink foundation looks grey and yellow foundation looks orange, you may be olive rather than light neutral. Read the olive skin tone guide.

Frequently asked questions

How do I match foundation if I am light and neutral?

Stay in the light band and choose a shade labeled neutral or buff. Test in daylight on the jaw. If you see yellow, move cooler; if you see pink, move warmer. Do not jump to medium to “cover” the mismatch.

Is light neutral the same as olive?

No. Olive has a visible green or grey-gold cast and is usually medium or tan. Light neutral is simply beige without a strong lean. If foundation keeps looking grey no matter the pink or yellow, read the olive guide.
